The Getty Center is the primary location of the J.Paul Getty Museum (the other is the Getty Villa). It's the home to European paintings, drawings, sculpture, decorative arts, and photography from the Middle Ages to the present.
The Getty Center sits on a hilltop in the Santa Monica Mountains. Visitors can either hike up or take the cable-pulled hovertrain funicular. Personally, I felt as if I was transported into another world once boarding the hovertrain.
The Center also features outdoor sculptures and a large Central Garden.
My favorite part about the Getty Center is its architectural design. I was mesmerized by all the curvilinear elements present throughout the buildings. The Getty Center opened in 1997 after 13 years of construction. It's designed by architect Richard Meier. There's an extensive use of travertine, beige-colored textured stones, on its exterior that reflect the sunlight, emitting a glow. Many of the Center’s exterior surfaces are also made of glass, allowing natural lighting to shine the interiors.
Spring (Jeanne Demarsy) by Édouard Manet. This is one of my favorite paintings. Other famous paintings located here include Van Gogh's Irises, Pierre-Auguste Renoir's La Promenade, and more.
Gorgeous view of the city and the San Gabriel Mountains.

This place not only houses amazing collections of art and historical artifacts, but is a beautiful architectural achievement on its own. It offers a spectacular view of the city and has beautifully kept gardens for tranquillity. I love this place so much. I'm amazed at how this amazing place remains to be free to the public. Tip is to come early in the morning to avoid crowds and find parking.
